Safety
The health and safety of our people is our highest priority and a foundational core value. Our safety culture is built on the uncompromising belief that safety must never be sacrificed, and that every employee has both the right and the obligation to prevent incidents. We invest in robust programs that span personal safety, process safety, health and wellness, and facility and employee security.
DKL's "I Own It" program reinforces individual responsibility and accountability for safety. This initiative empowers every employee, regardless of role or level, to commit to four tiers of safety ownership: to self, to others, to direct reports, and to the company. These tiers are embodied in the principles of "Act Safe, Be Safe," "Enable and Support Safety," and "Support the Safety Culture." Through this program, employees are encouraged to lead by example, intervene when necessary, and foster a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility.
Our commitment is further supported by structured training, annual safety refreshers, and the Enterprise Safety Committee, a cross-functional team of safety leaders that meets quarterly to identify improvements and drive accountability across the organization. We believe that one accident is too many, and we are dedicated to achieving an incident-free workplace through continuous improvement and shared ownership of safety.
